What is Act UN ?
Although the United Nations has achieved much since its creation in 1945, changes are necessary to meet the needs of the changed world to reflect the attitude, shifting change in power and pressing issues in today’s world.
Action for UN Renewal exists to promote an effective United Nations, with the authority and resources required to realise the aims of its founders - international peace, environmental protection, respect for human rights, economic and social justice, and the rule of law.
To this end we explore proposals for the renewal and more effective use of the UN system, primarily by member states but also in partnerships with non-governmental organisations and other civil society groups. Our own Government’s actions are our primary concern.
Action for United Nations Renewal is an NGO which works independently from the United Nations. We are a membership organisation encompassing individuals from diverse backgrounds and organisations working for different causes. As we are a not-for-profit organisation, all proceeds which are given to this organisation are used to host events and produce newsletters and publications to promote positive works of the UN, and educate the general public. We have monthly committee meetings in which we plan campaigns, events and conferences on issues related to peace, human rights, UN reforms, climate change, international affairs and development.
